What It Involves
A distance and near vision check, usually read from a Snellen chart, confirming your eyesight meets the standard your role requires. Driving, aviation and maritime roles all set specific minimum acuity levels - HGV/PHV medicals also check you can read a number plate at 20 metres, since that's the DVLA's real-world proxy for safe driving vision.

Bring them - the test is done with your normal correction in place, since that reflects how you'll actually be working.
DVLA Group 2 (HGV/PCV) requires at least 6/7.5 in your better eye and 6/60 in the poorer eye, plus reading a number plate at 20 metres.
