What It Involves
A simple tape measurement around your chest, used alongside height, weight and BMI to confirm you can safely fit into survival suits and helicopter emergency equipment. OEUK Issue 8 medical standards use chest measurement when BMI is in a borderline range โ it is about equipment compatibility, not appearance.

There is no single fail measurement โ it is assessed alongside BMI and survival-suit fit. Your OEUK doctor applies Issue 8 equipment compatibility rules.
You may be asked to measure over a thin layer โ bulky clothing is removed or adjusted for an accurate reading.
